KUALA TERENGGANU : A syariah compliant three-star hotel has commenced operations in the state, said Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

He said the government-owned Paya Bunga (PB) Hotel, which cost RM90mil to build, has its own attractions including calls to prayer.

Among others, it was made mandatory by the hotel for its personnel to wear suitable clothes and only offered halal food and drinks.

“For now, only 90 of the 208 rooms are opened at the PB Hotel for bookings while the rest will be opened in stages and be fully operational by the end of March.

“But other facilities such as swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurants and ballroom have been completed and can be used.

“We are also working with Agoda and Trivago over room bookings,” he said after launching the PB Hotel here. – Bernama
