Show Proof That PAS Received 1MBD Funds

Those who alleged PAS receive funds from Umno need to show solid proof, and not simply make wild accusations to divert public attention from a weak government.

PAS deputy president Ustaz Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the onus is not on the party to show any proof to any third party, regarding allegations that it received funds from former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

According to him, the party tables its financial statement every year during the PAS Central committee meeting, and submits it to the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

“I personally go through the party’s account every month, and verify that no funds were received. And now a new allegation is that PAS received RM2.5 million, instead of RM90 million, as mentioned initially.

“The relevant parties can check with ROS on this. They are the ones who should show proof on where the amount mentioned came from.

“I do not know how this thing started. I believe they are simply bringing up issues to divert public attention,” he said, when met at Maahad Tahfiz Imam Nawawi (MATIN) here, on Sunday night.

Yesterday, Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown had dared PAS to show the party’s financial statement as proof that it did not receive funds from Umno, a news portal reported.

Commenting further, Tuan Ibrahim did not discount there are those who were unhappy with PAS-Umno cooperation of late.

“I reckon they feel threatened with this political understanding,. They are actually trying to run away from a failed government (that they are part of).

“In fact, they are also trying to run away from a host of other issues. I’d say if what they are claiming is true, they are welcome to investigate. We are ready for that,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim said there was no need for PAS to set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the 1MDB scandal as it was the duty of the government, and not the party’s. – NST
