Muslims Do Not Boycott Non-Muslim Products But Buy Muslim Products First

The allegations by certain quarters claiming that PAS is campaigning to boycott non-Muslim goods is inaccurate because Islam itself is more concerned about the cleanliness and on the question of Haram and Halal of a product.

For PAS campaign “Buy Products Muslims First” is inclusive and competitive in a business context and should be viewed positively rather than negatively.

The results show that the prices of essential goods have dropped and this has indirectly benefited consumers in choosing their essential goods in the market.

In the past, prices of essential goods were difficult to be decreased than with this campaign will help consumers choose the goods they need at competitive prices.

Today, competitive prices in the market will positively impact the country’s economy and as consumers regardless of race and religion will benefit from this campaign. They are free to choose what they need and of course, Muslims prefer halal and clean items from the elements of syabhah.

The opposite of halal is haram/non-halal which means forbidden and prohibited. Any food or drink which lies within the grey area and does not fall clearly under the Halal or non-Halal category is classified as ‘Syubhah’, alternatively called questionable or dubious. In this category, until the status becomes clear, Muslims should avoid consuming syubhah food or drinks.

It is not wrong that this campaign provides awareness and choice for Muslims to choose their own goods and indirectly can help boost the economy and provide employment opportunities for youths who want to venture into business.

To those who claim that their interests are at stake, they must also think globally not in a narrow sense because consumers also have the right to choose their own goods without being burdened by the high cost of goods and do not benefit the user.

There is actually no racial proposition in this regard as consumers regardless of race and religion will be able to capitalize on the results of this campaign with the demand for essential goods lowered dramatically. Perhaps affected are manufacturers of certain products.
