IPOH, Jan 26 – With the Perak MB vs MB decision looming around the corner, the state PAS Youth is gearing itself towards facing possible snap elections in the state next month

The wing is organising a mammoth gathering with a target of mobilising some 10,000 youths for a day-long rally in the Malay-majority constituency of Larut this Jan 31.

“We preparing for the eventuality of state elections as we strongly believe that the court decision this Feb 9 will be in favour of (former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad) Nizar (Jamaluddin),” its deputy chief Muhammad Nur Amin told a press conference here today.

He added that the mammoth gathering was an effort to strengthen the wing’s election machinery and to garner the support of the youths across the state, especially the Malays.

“In fact, we have also gone down to our divisions to beef up our election machinery and mobilise our members,” he said.

Muhammad added that the location of Larut was chosen as it was a Malay-majority area.

“We want to prove to the people that the support of the Malays are still very strong with PAS and that we are ready for the leadership of Perak to be returned to the Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.

In a recent interview, Nizar had been quoted as saying that the support of the Malays in the rural areas for the PR had been waning.

The rally on Jan 31 will be held at Darul Ta’lim in Selama, Larut, and will commence from 10am until 5pm.

Activities will include sales carnivals, exhibitions, cultural performances and ceramahs by PAS leaders like PAS Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub, PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar, Nizar, Perak PAS commissioner Abu Bakar Husain and other leaders.-MalaysianInsider
